Botox Cosmetic injections have come a long way. What used to be considered a secret cosmetic treatment for many women is now more popular than ever–and men are following suit.
According Dr. Maria Atkins (via WGME.com), the stigma attached to Botox treatments has started to fade.
“Botox has gone from the dirty little secret that nobody wants to tell about to very commonplace,” said Dr. Atkins.
The same article also mentions that according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, more than 400,000 men received Botox injections in 2014, marking a 337 percent increase since the year 2000.
Dr. Michael Bedics–of the Age Management Center in Portland, Maine–states that he encourages men to at least find out what Botox is.
“We encourage men to walk on the wild side,” said Dr. Bedics. “At least come in and talk about it, because we’d be happy just to talk about it and let you know what it’s all about ’cause we think it’s something very cool, bro.”
